The short version

Microsoft licensing is no longer as simple as picking one plan name. The same product family can now have several versions, different billing choices, and optional extras such as Copilot.

That is why JCPIT has broken Microsoft products out from our service bundles. You still get our support and security services, but your Microsoft licences can be chosen more precisely.

Instead of You now get
One bundled Microsoft option A clearer choice of Microsoft licences
Paying for licences that may no longer be used A renewal review to remove waste
Monthly billing by default A comparison of monthly vs yearly upfront billing

Examples of Microsoft 365 variants

Some Microsoft plans now have variants that look similar but suit different businesses.

Option Best fit
Business Standard Teams that need Office apps, email, file storage, and Teams.
Business Standard without Teams Businesses that do not use Teams and want to avoid paying for it where available.
Business Standard with Copilot Teams ready to use Copilot for writing, summaries, and productivity work.

Monthly or yearly upfront?

Monthly

Good when staff numbers change often or you value flexibility more than the lowest annual cost.

Yearly upfront

Good for stable teams. Eligible annual plans can save around 20% compared with monthly billing.

What JCPIT will check before renewal

  • Licences assigned to people who have left
  • Duplicate or unused licences
  • Whether Teams, Copilot, or a different variant makes sense
  • Whether Business Premium is worth considering for stronger protection
  • Whether monthly or yearly upfront billing is the better fit

Business Standard vs Business Premium

Business Standard covers the familiar Microsoft tools: Office apps, email, Teams, and file storage. Business Premium adds stronger security and device protection, which can help with scam emails, stolen passwords, lost laptops, and safer sign-ins.

We will not recommend Premium just because it exists. We will recommend it when the extra protection makes sense for your business.
